“A once-in-a-generation endeavour”: Cambridge Growth Company launches search for Chief Executive

The Cambridge Growth Company seeks an exceptional leader to drive a 25-year transformation to deliver sustainable, inclusive growth.
The Cambridge Growth Company has today (Wednesday 25 February) launched the search for a Chief Executive - “a once-in-a-generation endeavour” to help shape the future of Greater Cambridge.

The Chief Executive will work with the Board and local stakeholders to shape a credible Business Plan for a 25-year transformation that drives continuous improvements in quality of life: economic output and job growth, in sustainable social, green and physical infrastructure, in resilient, well-connected places.

Peter Freeman CBE, Chair of the Cambridge Growth Company, said:

"This is a role of real consequence - career defining in scope, nationally important in its mission and locally, regionally and globally significant in its potential impact. It asks you to help shape a once-in-a-generation endeavour, shepherding the Government's ambition for nationally significant economic growth by putting in place the foundations for a thriving, sustainable Greater Cambridge. To achieve this, we are required to address complex challenges and constraints in the area's transport systems, water and housing affordability, in a way that strengthens communities and enhances quality of life."

The role calls for an exceptional leader capable of building coalitions across government, business, universities, civic society and investors, and navigating the complex interplay between national policy and local priorities. Candidates from both public and private sector backgrounds are encouraged to apply, including those with experience in government, development, finance, or investment.

If you are energised by the opportunity to turn exceptional potential into shared prosperity, if you welcome the responsibility that comes with national and international interest, then we would love to hear from you.

Applications are now open. View the full candidate brief and apply here.
